Research Interests:

　Planetary systems are formed in circumstellar disks around young stars. Observations of the disks to derive their structure and evolution are thus crucial to understand the formation of planetary systems. In order to understand the formation and evolution of our Earth and earth-like exoplanets, on the other hand, it is essential to determine structure and dynamics of the Earth's deep interior from geophysical observation. Interdisciplinary studies will be emphasized to understand the formation and dynamics of planetary systems and Earth-like planets.

Current Projects:　

• Observations of star- and planetary system formation using radio and infrared telescopes.
• Mantle upwelling such as mantle plumes, large igneous provinces, and petit spot.
• Mantle downweling such as subducted slabs and the associated downward flow.
• Geochemistry and metallogenesis of seafloor hydrothermal deposit, REY-rich mud, ferromanganese crust and ferromanganese nodule.
