- Research Interests:
- The earth is composed of the central core, mantle, crust, ocean (hydrosphere),
atmosphere, biosphere, and magnetosphere. In the long history of the earth,
these components evolved with mutual interactions, and affected the global
environment changes. We study the structure, dynamics, and evolution of
the components with various time scales, in different ways, and in various
areas of continents, oceans, island arcs, and lakes. Magnetism is common
to our main approaches of (a) geomagnetism & geoelectricity, (b) paleomagnetism,
and (c) environmental magnetism.

- Current Projects:
-
- Conductivity structure in and around seismogenic zones (a)
- Conductivity structure beneath southwestern Japan (a)
- Dynamics of mid-oceanic ridge (a, topography, gravity)
- Structure and evolution of ocean floor (a, topography, gravity)
- Tectonic deformation of continents (b)
- Dynamics and evolution of island arcs (b)
- Timing of generation of the inner core (b)
- Mechanism of geomagnetic reversal, excursion, & secular variation (b)
- Evolution and dispersion of African and Asian early hominids (b)
- Paleoenvironments in Asian monsoon areas (b, c, paleontology)
